Dear Katherine,
I want to help people as much as i can but i always get screwed over in some way, what are some ways i can still be generous but also protect my heart more!
—Paige
My dearest Paige,
Generosity is like blood. Give a little and you look radiant. Give too much and you are the pale one on the floor while someone else walks away glowing. The secret is not to stop giving. It is to give smarter, so your heart stays intact. Pour from the vein you choose, not the one they have already got their teeth in.
Three rules to help you give freely and keep your crown:
Choose the ones who will not weaponize your kindness. If someone twists your help into leverage, gossip, or a free pass to take more, they have already shown you they are not worth the gift.
Set the stage. Give on your timing, not theirs. When generosity is on your terms, it feels like power instead of penance.
Keep the balance. Give to people who meet you halfway, not just the ones with the loudest pleas. The best generosity flows where respect flows back.
Your heart was made to give, Paige. Just make sure you are feeding roses, not poison ivy.
With all my wicked little heart,
Katherine 🖤
